Join us for chamber music in the woods

The view from Wind River

The view from Wind River. Portato Portato plays this Saturday night.

Just past the Mystery Spot, there’s a beautiful wooden room deep in the Santa Cruz redwood forest. In April 2017, we recorded a live session with Mivos Quartet, and knew then that we had to find a way to bring others into the space.

The owners have graciously shared the space with us for a few performances of chamber music throughout Fall 2017 — with any luck, before the rain sets in. We’re starting earlier than usual so that you can find your way before dark. Advance tickets are recommended (and discounted), and carpooling is highly suggested.

So, this weekend, join us in the woods to listen to the unwinding, asynchronous, and liminal music of Morton Feldman‘s trio Why Patterns? along with Louis Andriessen’s flute and piano duo Melodie. Ensemble members Jacob Lane and Jon Myers have also written new pieces, which we hope make it to you all soon via The Essential Indexical.

More info about Portato Portato is available on the event page.
